The ‘Right Moment’…

IMG_6578For some reason i keep waiting for the ‘right moment’… & while waiting for it, not even knowing what and when that ‘right moment’ actually is.

What ‘right moment’?!?! The right moment to start blogging again! I want to start blogging again, no i need to start blogging again. Why? Well because i’m having the urge so many times, i have so many partly finished blogs on my computer & in my draft box, written ideas in my note-book and on numerous papers lying around in my house. And not doing anything with them thanks to that dreathful and horrible ‘right moment’ is in my eyes a shame.

So i’m just gonna do it! Do it and not gonna wait for that somewhat hated ‘right moment’!

Maybe we needed washing

After the beautiful weather we’ve been having for the last couple of weeks, it’s getting used to all the water that has been coming down from the sky right now. Of course we prefer the sunshine over the rain. But sometimes a good rain shower isn’t so bad. Somethings are better in the rain!

♥  Kissing is way better in the rain ♥ Dancing & singing is awesome in the rain ♥  In combination with the sun you can see one of natures most beautiful miracles; the rainbow ♥ You can pick up a book, a cup of tea and curl up on the couch ♥  It’s so relaxing to stay in bed all day & have a movies or series marathon ♥  Unleashing your real and maybe repressed feelings can be so liberating ♥  You can shamelessly act like a kid again and play in puddles ♥

So you see rain isn’t always a bad thing. And if it’s bad, it’s never as bad as we think it is.

That’s also the metaphoric message in this youtube clip, a reminder to us that we sometimes need to see a bit further than our own front yard. There are always people in worse situations than ours. And their troubles should put our small daily problems in to perspective. We shouldn’t let the little inconvenient things get in our way: let them be what they are, accept them, deal with them or don’t and move forward. We’ll be fine!

And when you unexpectedly do get caught in a rain shower, don’t worry, maybe you needed washing!

On the wall

IMG_4793The painting i have hanging on my livingroom wall (here on the right), has been the same one that’s been there for the last decade or so. I’ve put it up the day i moved in and it was also in my previous house. So jeah it’s been there a while & i’m still not sick of it. But lately i have been walking around with the idea i want to chang it up a bit, get something new. But what would be nice? What would ‘fit’ the room and what would ‘fit’ me? I’d love it to be colorful, not to bright though and i would go for something that sends out a calming vibe. O and of course it would be awesome if it was something that not everyone had hanging in their home.

I’ve already been looking around but honestly i know exactly what i want. I’ve known ever since i’ve seen a gorgeous picture at the Petersik house (they blogged about it back in early 2012). The painting is made by Samantha French and she has an Etsy store where you can see (and buy if you want) more of her oil paintings & prints. Of course i checked out her shop right away & couldn’t help fall in love with her style. Not only because of the colors she uses and the composition, but maybe mostly because of the swimming theme (o me & my swimming!).

il_570xN.248259621And now ever since 2012 i’m smittingly & head over heels in love with the print you see here on the left: ”Three Feet Below’ print (the same one the Petersiks have fyi). And i’m afraid that ever since, i can’t help but compare everything i see that’s a possibility, to that print.

So i made a promise to myself that one day i will own this print. Don’t know when, don’t know how, but i will!

Maybe a good birthday wish list item?!

IMG_6169When i came home and saw what was waiting for me i could only cheer. What was so cheer-worthy? My Instaswap package had finally arrived. It had taken the postman almost 2 weeks after the first delivery attempt to find my house again. Well he sort of found it, he delivered it at the neighbours 6 houses down. Why it took 2 weeks, i have no idea, but he sure knew how to test my patience as well as that of the organiser of the swap and the maker of the package. All in all i’m glad everything turned out good and i’m so so happy with my ‘instaswap2014 summer edition‘ package.

After seeing more and more of the first Instaswap edition on Instagram (#instaswap2013) and on a few blogs, i knew i wanted to join in if a new edition would be held. How cool is it to swap/ exchange small gifts with someone you don’t know! You had to sign up and after a couple of weeks you receive a name & address by the swap organizer: that person will be your secret swapper. You snoop around on his/her Instagram, maybe also on some other (social media) sites and get inspired to make or buy (little) gifts for that person. On June 1st everyone would send out their creations & after you receiving the goodies you will also find out who it was that sent it to them.

Below you can see what was in the package that took forever to get here. IMG_6354

This is what my sweet swapper made/ created/ bought for me!

  • toothpicks with little white birds
  • quotes of ribbons
  • 2 little notebooks & a pencil in my favorite colors
  • 4 different colored thread
  • several cranes attached to a cord
  • different sized hearts
  • gorgeous candle bags
  • pretty little dolls

I’m loving the gifts my swapper made for me. Especially the hearts & cranes have been inspiring me. But more on that later. For now i’m gonna enjoy all the cuteness and maybe even starting to think about the next Instaswap!

P.s. what did i get for my swapper? Well you can see it *here*

Hammock Lounging

IMG_5702As i’m writing this, it’s around 25 degrees (celsius) outside and inside my house it’s probably a bit warmer. That’s what you get when your main livingroom windows are facing south and there are no blinds only curtains to keep the direct sunlight out. But i’m not complaining, not yet haha. I do have to come up with a solution before the real heat is coming this summer though.

But that’s not why i started this post. With this beautiful weather i really wished i had a hammock. Especially after i enjoyed my aunts hammock earlier this month (picture left). The sheer joy of just laying there, reading a book and rocking a little bit. Okay sitting in my lawn chairs is comfy too, but a hammock would be the ultimate. I also have the perfect spot in my garden in mind.

So i’ve looking around on the net if i could find some that are pretty and affordable. And i did. Loving the one on the left and also the middle one is very good, but the one on the far rightt has to be my favorite. Not realistic but a girl can dream can’t she?!

Keeper or Goner?

keep-calm-and-get-organized-7Spending a whole day(say about 8 hours) catching up on your Bloglovin’, YouTube, Twitter & Facebook is not a good thing right?! No i didn’t think so. But when i’ve had a busy week it does take me a day to get caught up with all things www related. And after i’m finished i can be so inspired to blog, post and all that jazz but by then i’m completely done with the whole internet thing. Not a good thing!

After adding up the numbers i’m coming to the conclusion that it’s getting out of hand, i’m admitting i have a problem. What the numbers are? We’ll lets see. I’m following 150 blogs on Bloglovin’, subscribed to 95 YT Channels, following 256 twitter accounts o and of courses there’s also Instagram, can’t forget about that one. where I’m following 264 Grammers.

That’s all together Way to much. Yep Way with a capital W. Something has to change. I have to change this time-consuming but o so lovely hobby of mine and i need to start cleaning up or cleaning out my subscription boxes and start unfollowing! But where to start and who or what to drop? I’m following all these people for a reason, they inspire me, make fun YouTube videos & write awesome blogs and take awesome pictures.

And that is exactly what my ‘keep’ or ‘get rid of’ criteria were. Did the post or YT clip make me laugh, did it inspire me and do the posts, clips and pictures all together enrich my life? If they do it’s a keeper, if they don’t… well it’s a goner! Okay maybe it wasn’t that easy but sticking with these general rules helped me a lot. Also i got some advice from the one and only Tyler Oakley. He was spot on with his The only life advice you need (watch it *here*).

So as of today i’ve been digitally downsizing and loving it!  All numbers have come down and hopefully it will only take me half a day next time. Twitter was very easier. People that hadn’t posted anything in a while or mostly post things that aren’t interesting to me had to go! Bloglovin’ and Youtube were the most challenging. So many great blogs and channels! And while i was on a purge&organize spree i also went over to my Facebook. To many ‘Friends’.

This purge was a good one, even liberating in a way. Think i might even make this digital cleanup a 6 monthly thing. How ’bout that?!

Sad, it’s just Sad!

Yep i’m a sad excuse for a blogger. Every time i think i’m getting back into ‘the game’ of blogging something happens (or nothing for that matter) and i forget to write for weeks. It’s not that i don’t have anything to say or to share, i have lots, but for some reason nothing ends up on here. Why is that? A mind-boggling question that i’ve asked myself over & over and after some time i can finally give myself multiple answers. And with these answers i’ve come to the realisation that i’m in desperate need of some structure and guidance to keep me from getting sidetracked.

I also realized that i don’t wanna blog everyday, for me it’s just not achievable, but i think that twice a week is doable (maybe three times, but then i maybe pushing it). Next i also need to figure out what the best days will be for me to post, what i want to blog about (plan ideas ahead even if it’s just a general idea, not detailed yet) and if i want to have a reoccurring kind of post (and what the frequency could be). Decisions, decisions, decisions and loads to think about!

So for now i’m going to give you some of my ‘currently’ stuff  and i’ll be back soon!

READING: I just rejoined the library about 3 weeks ago and i’m so so happy i did. The first time i only took 2 books home, but when i went last week i took 5! You can take up to 10 books total & borrow/ keep them for 3 weeks. I can read fast, but not fast enough to be going for the full 10 books in 3 weeks. So 5 will be a more realistic number. But back to the question, right now i’m reading  Are you my Mother by Louise Voss. And Geek Girl will be the next.
WATCHING: I’m trying to catch up on all the shows i watch online. That means all the episodes of  ‘The Big Bang Theory’, ‘2 Broke Girls’, ‘Modern Family’ and ‘Hart of Dixie’ that aired in the last couple of weeks.
LISTENING TO: The new album by Jacqueline Govaert, Songs to Soothe. Going to her concert at Paradiso in September!
EATING: The last of the chocolate easter eggs and it’s making me a bit nauseous.
THINKING ABOUT: Making a moodboard/ inspiration board. I have loads of magazines and already cut out some cute stuff. Just need to figure out the how, when and where!
LOVING: The sun being out more and more !
FEELING THANKFUL: For just being here and having amazing family and friends i can call anytime!
MAKING ME HAPPY: Very corny but the song Happy by Pharrell

A Fresh Start

Happy New Year everybody!

May this be the best year i’ve (you’ve) ever had!

Now i‘m not gonna say that this year is going to be My year. Why not? Well lets face it every year is My year since i’m the one living it right?! No, 2014 is going to be the year in which i’m aiming for a better version of me, developing an Amarins 2.0 so to speak.

Not by making resolutions, but more like making little promises with myself. Promises that will make my year better, promises that make my life better, not happier (i am already pretty happy), just better. Back in 2012 i talked about aspirations i had (read here) and i still have them, but sometimes it’s good to remind yourself of those aspirations or little promises you made with yourself. Even if it’s just to keep you grounded or make you focus on what you feel is important in your life.

So here are some of my little promises to myself for 2014

♥ count your blessing, even the small ones ♥ be more confidant ♥ read loads & loads of book ♥ try to be more time managed ♥ be unique without losing yourself ♥ put You first ♥ do what makes you happy, if it doesn’t, don’t do it ♥ study & excersise more  ♥ blog when and about whatever you want, it’s your blog not anybody elses ♥  keeping up the cleaning of your house as well as your head, heart & soul ♥ enjoy all the wonderfulness life gives you ♥
